Donor

Any registered User on Little Flags donating to any Cause is naturally a Donor.

That’s purely your choice. Choose a Cause and Campaign that touches you, and donate to the subjects in need.

On a per donation basis, the minimum donation amount is HKD100, maximum is contingent on the Campaign target fundraise amount.

All Campaign raises are capped at a 20% overshoot, i.e. if a Campaign targets a raise of HKD10,000, the maximum raise allowed is HKD12,000, then the Campaign will be automatically completed successfully. Thus, in this case, the maximum donation is HKD12,000 minus whatever donations are already made to the said Campaign.

Little Flags offers the option for any Donor to donate without showing one’s name, and thus such donation will not be visible to the public on the respective Campaign page. This option is available upon donations are made.

Donations to recognised Charity Organisations – Over the amount of HKD100 are considered tax-deductible under Hong Kong tax law. A check box is available upon donation to opt for a tax receipt to be issued by the recognised Charity Organisation.

All donations made through Little Flags are non-refundable, unless if one of the following occurs:

  • Fraud – if, after an investigation by Little Flags, a Campaign is proved to be fraudulent
  • Unauthorised Campaigns – referring to Terms of Services, certain Campaigns are unauthorised due to their nature

A potential refund to the Donors of specific fraudulent and/or Unauthorised Campaigns shall be triggered after completion of the investigation. Whether a refund shall happen is also contingent on whether Authorities are involved.

All refunds are net of all transaction costs by payment gateways, while Little Flags will not charge any administration fee for these cases.

Organiser

An Organiser is a person or entity, that is a Hong Kong resident or Hong Kong registered entity respectively. Such person or entity is required to be verified by Little Flags. After successful verification, Organisers are allowed access to organise Campaigns for and on behalf of Beneficiaries.

Where a person under the age of 18 seeks to be an Organiser, written consent by a parent or guardian must be received by Little Flags before such person may be accepted as an Organiser. Where an Organiser is under the age of 18, Little Flags may impose restrictions, such as restricting the use of such Organiser’s bank account for accepting Donations or withdrawing funds for Beneficiaries.

Verification is acquired through a guided simple process including but not limited to ID verification and submission of documents, with the objective to validate and authenticate the person or entity.

‘Create Campaign’ via ‘+’ button on top toolbar.

Description – This is where the action happens. Be truthful, share everything that touches your heart about the Cause and therefore the reasons for starting the Campaign for the Beneficiary. Share more about the Beneficiary, convince Donors of the validity of the campaign, preferably upload all relevant documents and media such as pictures and videos to show the public. The more info provided and structured in a presentable easy-to-understand manner, the higher the chance of reaching your target raise.

Campaign banner – don’t forget to put on an attractive banner. Nevertheless, please ensure you have the rights to post and share the image chosen.

Category – scroll and choose the right category, we will help you target the right segment of people.

Banking details – Once a chosen bank account info is provided, it cannot be altered.

Scenarios below:

  • If the Beneficiary is already registered and listed on Little Flags, naturally the bank account info will be such Beneficiary’s bank account, which does not require additional inputting
  • If the Beneficiary is not registered and listed on Little Flags, please have the Beneficiary register first, or create and register a new Beneficiary Little Flags user account on the spot. Thereafter, before the Campaign can be published, the Beneficiary is required to be verified by Little Flags.
  • If the Organiser is accepting funds on behalf of the Beneficiary, due to reasons such as Beneficiary is physically or mentally incapable, Organiser may input his/her own bank account info, yet Organiser must be able to successfully prove to Little Flags the relationship between Organiser and Beneficiary, please expect a rigorous due diligence process.

Once you publish your Campaign, it will be put on hold for verification by Little Flags, it may take up to one to two days, please give us time to make sure things are legit. It is also in your interest to help us verify by filling in as much info as possible. We understand each and every case is urgent and unique, Little Flags will work hard to shorten the verification process as much as possible.

You will be notified upon successful completion of the verification process (or additional information is required). At this point, please share and tag all your friends!  We suggest you share the Campaign to Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and all other social networks you might use.

We also strongly suggest creating a Fundraiser Challenge at this point, this is the key to the success of creating noise and a successful raise for the Campaign. Please refer to the ‘Fundraiser’ section for further details.

You can edit your campaign after it is created. Please however note that if you change the Beneficiary, your campaign will be temporary suspended as Little Flags needs to verify the identity of the new Beneficiary. Change of Beneficiary should only happen when the Beneficiary is no longer able to collect donations in his own capacity. Evidence to support the relationships between the original and new Beneficiaries, or authorisation from the original to new Beneficiaries will be required to facilitate the change.

The Withdrawal process may take up to a few days, trust us, we are doing our best.

You can withdraw funds anytime, even when the Campaign hasn’t reached its target raise or expiry, nevertheless, once the withdrawal is activated, there is no turning back, no more donations are allowed from that point onwards.

At this point, Little Flags may require additional information from you for verification and due diligence purposes.

Please refer to the ‘Fundraisers’ section.

Upon successful completion of each Campaign, Organiser shall receive a report generated by Little Flags, which shall list info including but not limited to Campaign details, Donors, donations, requests for tax receipts and so on.

Fundraiser

Any registered Little Flags User that creates, accepts or shares a Challenge to help fundraise for a Campaign(s). Users are not required to be verified by Little Flags to become a Fundraiser.

Fundraisers are the game changer, these are the roles that create the bridge between Donors and Beneficiaries. This is where fun and social is injected into giving.

Fundraisers are the facilitators, the fun-lovers, the creative people. Fundraisers create Challenges for Campaigns, the Challenges are related to the Cause of the Campaign, presented in a playful yet respectful manner, making charity fun.

There are a few key elements that we suggest you to consider:

  • Easy to participate and execute
  • One-off and can act upon within a short period of time
  • Simple and surprisingly fun
  • Make you and other people laugh
  • Easy to gain traction and go viral
  • Relatively high ‘effort to impact’ ratio

Watch-outs:

  • Be respectful
  • Refer to Terms of Service for unauthorised activities

Since all Challenges are attached to specific Campaigns, Campaign Organisers may choose to ‘endorse’ the Challenge. The Fundraiser shall have such ‘endorsement’ shown on the Challenge page in the format of a badge.

Challenges may be subject to investigation and potential suspension if:

  • Challenge is against our Terms of Service
  • Challenge is reported

If a Challenge is suspended, the respective Fundraiser (User) may be warned or suspended too.

Beneficiaries

A Beneficiary is a person or entity, that is a Hong Kong resident or Hong Kong registered entity respectively, whom receives and benefits from funds raised via a Campaign created by an Organiser. Such person or entity is required to be verified by Little Flags.

Political organisations and their affiliates, as well as any organisations that are of non-moralistic nature, are not eligible to join Little Flags as a Beneficiary.

Beneficiary must be registered with Little Flags. Verification is required for both individuals or entities, including but not limited to ID verification and submission of relevant official documentation.

It is required by law for eligible Charity Organisations to present to Donors tax receipts upon donations above HKD100 per. It is the Organiser’s responsibility to ensure the Beneficiary issues such tax receipts to Donors that have requested such, which will be clearly listed and indicated in the report generated to the Organiser after completion of the respective Campaign. Little Flags holds and bears no responsibility on the issuing of tax receipts.
